State of South Carolina Court Reporters Association’s Annual Convention CEU Material
These Courtroom Model Guidelines are the result of a joint project by the American Judges Foundation and the National Court Reporters Foundation. These guidelines provide a framework that can be modified by any courtroom in the country to meet the communication access needs of people who are Deaf, deaf, late-deafened or hard-of-hearing as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. You will want to revise these guidelines as necessary to meet your individual circumstances. There is also valuable information about arranging for a CART provider.
This manual covers a CART provider’s professionalism including sensitivities to the varying needs of consumers. It also has guidelines related to the legal setting, skill requirements, equipment, and onsite setup. This expertise distinguishes a CART provider from a court reporter in a traditional litigation setting.
